Our History: Leading the Way in Laser Education
Founded by Ruth Nicholson, NZLT Institute was created in response to New Zealand’s lack of regulation in the laser industry.
Ruth saw the risks posed by unqualified operators and unregulated devices and made it her mission to create a structured, accredited training pathway for professionals working with IPL and laser technologies.
Over the past 20 years, NZLT has trained thousands of professionals, setting the gold standard in laser safety and training. Today, we continue to lead the industry, ensuring that every student is well-equipped to practice safely and confidently.

Ruth has dedicated her career to advocating for safer laser practices, working with professionals across the medical, beauty, and aesthetic industries to ensure best practice standards. Recognising that healthcare authorities and the Ministry of Health for the laser industry are slow to implement ideal regulations, she took action to remain the leading voice in promoting higher levels of industry-wide quality education.

Stacey is a leading specialist in hands-on laser education, delivering our practical training across all topics: Skin Rejuvenation, Hair Removal, and Laser Tattoo Removal. She is committed to providing world-class, practical training and ensuring a continuation of the highest safety standards. Since Stacey is now offering her own clinic services, we have enhanced our practical offerings, making it even easier for you to access hands-on training through the purchase of technology via our trusted technology partner.

Helena is often the first point of contact at NZLT, managing enrolments and helping learners stay on track with their studies. Operations Manager
Kylie plays a vital role in keeping our backend technologies at NZLT running smoothly, overseeing everything from software management, accounts, marketing, website and updates, ensuring a seamless operation. Working closely with Ruth and Stacey, Kylie creates video animations for our e-learning modules, bringing course content to life for our students.
